My daughter just completed her first year of 4-H sewing.  This is her project.  She had to make an elastic waisted skirt and wanted to stand out and be different, so she opted to make a poodle skirt.  She didnt place ( there were 19 girls taking the same project) but we think she did fabulous!!!  She scored all excellents and 1 good ( because it didnt reflect a "current" style, lol)  The hair scrunchie on her wrist was also part of the project, she also made the scarf out of the same fabric.  The blouse was purchased and I added vents on the side for more roominess.

thanks for looking.

I dream of a house covered with your art, and would love a personal swap. Pm me if you'd like to spread the crafty love! I also need blue fabric scraps for a scrap quilt!

Your daughter did a good job on her first project. Tell her it's ok to be different! And poodle skirts never go out of style!

She did an AWESOME job!  Who is to judge what is "current" style anyways?  How about they ditch that and give an extra point for creativity.  Bravo for doing her own thing and doing it so well!

Thank you all for the kind comments.  She'll be tickled.  Ive taught both my girls to be themselves.  My creativity was stifled as a kid, so Ive encouraged my girls to do their own thing.

I meant to add earlier that the glasses in her picture are her actual glasses.  Talk about different from the norm.  You cant tell from the picture, but they are black on the outside and hot pink on the inside.  They soooooo suit her!

Her favorite TV show is project runway.  ha ha.

Fabulous! She did a great job for such a young one. I have a nine year old myself, who is learning to sew. It's great to see kids with interests BESIDES video games. =)
