I just finished another baby quilt.  This time for parents who aren't finding out if the baby is a boy or girl before the birth.  Was a new challenge for me to make something that worked for either a boy or a girl!

I love it! "Girl" and "boy" stuff gets so old. And the back is really great.

LOVE your quilt!  I really like your colors...my son's first room was orange, kiwi and aqua...it was SO cute.  Is your quilt stippled?  I really like the look of it!

Is your quilt stippled?

Thanks for your kind words!

I free motion machine quilted the quilt.  I just do a kinda  random wiggly loopy design.  I'm sure there's a more technical term for it!  It's what she does here:

http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2008/03/free-motion-quilting.html

Then if you throw the quilt in the washer and dryer, you get really wonderfully crinkly results!

this is SO cute. I love your choice of fabrics (maybe since I can see 4 prints that I also have Tongue) and your quilting is really nicely done. I am a crinkly quilt fan!

I so want to learn how to do this.  I love such things.  I am so scared of my machine though- learning about different feet, feed dogs, tension!!!!  There is a yarn and fabric store (a very upscale one) right near me, I should take a class but they are so expensive!

Really lovely work.  This will be treasured for so many years to come.  Love the fabric too.

Ahh!!  I love your quilt!  I really need to get back into making them but I don't have a sturdy enough table for my machine I use to quilt Cry

For the technique in the video, that's meandering.  Stippling is a lot smaller but the same concept.

Thanks so much everyone for your kind kind words about the quilt!

As for how I quilted, it, I did meandering (thanks suganspyyce for the correct term!) free motion quilting.  On my normal sewing machine with the darning foot on and feed dogs down.  There's a great conversation with tips and the like here:

It was scary for me the first time - but with practice it gets easier and I now LOVE this step of the process!

I love the detail on the back. And the fabrics are so cute, and your craft is excellent.  Great job.  And I don't think things should necessarily be made according to gender anyway.

Beautiful quilt! I really love how the design is simple and geometric but still very pretty and interesting to look at. I've been trying to start a baby quilt, but haven't found a design I really liked until I saw this one. Do you have the approximate dimensions? (I'm assuming it's already been given to those lucky parents!) Grin

That is a beautiful quilt.  You have a great eye for colour.  Love the log cabin patches on the back.  Isn't white a wonderful background colour?  so crisp and warm and lovely with the fabrics.  You rock!

Thank you so much! So glad you like it!

So sorry for the delayed response to this!  The quilt measures 45" x 60" - a bit big for a baby quilt, but I figure that way the kid can use it for a long time!
