I know this is a little late to make for valentine's day but, heck who wouldn't want a heart shaped cupcake any day? I saw this on my local news last week.
1- Prepare your cake batter as usual.
2-line cupcake pan with paper liners.
3-fill cups 2/3 full as usual.
4-slide a glass marble between the paper and the pan. This will cause the paper to crease inwards forming a "V"
5- bake as usual, let marbles cool before handling them... trust me, they stay hot for a while.  Embarrassed
This is what you get:

How simple is that?
You can also make heart shaped brownies in the same way. I made both for my kindergarten daughter's class today. Her teacher (mrs. hart!) looooved them.

Great trick, can't wait to use it.  But I'm glad I read the post, because the first thought that came to my mind was "Won't you choke on that?"

Super Cute!
Do you think if you slid a glass marble on both sides of the cupcake it would make a butterfly shape or 4-leaf clover???

Those cupcakes are so cute!  That's a great trick.  I'll have to keep it in mind.  Not just for next V-Day, though!  I should make some tomorrow... Any day is a good day for heart-shaped cupcakes!

I bet it would make a butterfly shape, you might want to put a tiny bit less batter though.

after thoughts:
if you don't have round marbles, flat ones will work too.
if you've lost all your marbles (lame, I know) you can use balls of aluminum foil.
mini size cupcakes don't come out as well as the regular size.
