There's one set of amusingly mis-categorized ads -- whenever I view my Craftster bookmarks, I get Google ads about having bookmarks printed for my church group, craft kits for bookmarks, etc.  It took me a while to figure out why I was getting so many ads about a craft I don't really do... I don't mind them, they're at least crafty ads, but it's an example of when the Google word-matching misses the meaning.

There was a forum once, where I posted so often and in so many categories, that Google pretty much only ever showed up ads to do with cats - breeders, litter trays, etc etc etc.

Hmmm, I'm thinking this guy and his quote of "I'm better than you" could be made into a pair of fun shrinky dink earrings...

Aha! A Craftster Challenge where you have to craft something utilizing the ads - now that would be interesting.   Grin

I LOVE the communication on here!! just when i was wanting to see what was up with the ads, of course there is a thread already up!!!
Thanks Leah!!

NOW, its odd to see the non-crafty ads, though i understand money makes the world go around, and The Craftster Team (Leah, Sean( i dont really know who you are, but i like your replys to things!), sweets and new full timer....Casey?...yes..Casey Wink) works really hard to keep it from being too much for us, so i will allow it... Cheesy.

i also want to ditto on a post back a few pages ( read the whole thing before posting Wink) where i also ignore the non-crafty ads in which case causes me to ignore the crafty ones that deserve my attention.....

what about the Miley Cyrus...chick one...to see her new video??! its odd and i dont like it....i think i can do a screenshot if needed...unless we like this ad and want it to stay for some reason??

anyhow, great work Craftster Team ( i like this title i just made up for you guys Wink) i love love this place, i honestly dont know what i did before Craftster!!

ah, my first screenshot, i did it in paint ( all i have available), it looks crappy, but you get the point...also, you can see the equally annoying ad for plenty of fish....ugh...

I really really don't care (well not so much I do care alot.!) what you do with craftster.

But do we have to see this one?

It starts off all bouncy and annoying which is why it got my attention

This thread is really, really interesting.  If you asked me two years ago if I EVER would have paid money to support a website, the answer would have been an emphatic "no".  However, after being encouraged by another craftster member, I looked into becoming a "friend of Craftster".  I read all the info about it, and I thought: wow, here's a chick who's providing this service to all us crafty people, who's commited to keeping the website "grass-roots" and making sure that the adverts are relevant to the content of the site, and who really wants this site to be a community.  I thought that Leah had undertaken an ambitios (perhaps impossible?) task. So, I became a friend of Craftster by making a donation (albeit small) to the site.

Now, the site is loaded with adverts... they don't really bother me that much and it certainly won't put me off from using this site any less.  I can't help but feel a little jipped for making the donation though.  I thought I was helping one girl make a life doing the crafting thing, not adding to the total revenue of some media company.

I love Craftster, and I love what I get out of it - but I probably won't be a friend of Craftster next year.

I post all my crafty stuff on Facebook.  I'd LOVE if you'd like my page!

I don't pay any attention to the ads and rarely even notice them. No complaints here. Do what you gotta do Smiley
