So, as you may have gathered from that subject line, my friends have a pretty wide variety of tastes. And most of them seem to have summer birthdays. (Which is kind of weird. My birthday is in the summer too, so I'm not an exception or anything. Haha)

Anyway, I used the same pattern (and my mother's sewing machine, doing the whole lot by hand would have KILLED ME) and rattled off these babies:

The first oen I finished was Bill Bailey, for my friend Liz, who loves Black Books and Spaced and also saw him live one time. I actually got the idea to even make dolls in the first place from Black Books, so... yeah. Here's a close up with less of myselfbeingashowoff:

The hair is some cheap acrylic yarn I had lying around, the jacket is held together with poppers... um... yeah. Next is Oooold Greeeeeg from The Mighty Boosh:

He (She? It) looks way shinier here than he does in real life! But, yeah, I had some shiny American-Apparel-Leggins type fabric lying around that I bought initially for another project. Um... what else to say. The face is drawn on, the lips are felt and the hair is made of scraps. Here s/he is again, with his/her future owner:

Sophie is actually way better at sewing than me. She said she might try to make me The Hitcher from the same tv show for my own birthday. Haha.

And here is my attempt at Hayley Williams from Paramore:

Hooray! Something to interest people who do not/can not watch British television! Um... yeah. So, this was supposed to be her outfit from the video for Misery Business, (because my knowledge of Paramore is limited, because the outfit in that video is fun) but I didn't have any yellow paint, so her legs are the same colour. The hair is more yarn. That was fun to do, but difficult because in real life she actually has reallysuperstraight hair, so I ironed it many times, but it still came out a little wavy. Still, I am so happy with her make up. My attempt at drawing her face went pretty well, I think, but the eyes are too big and her head is too wide, so.... yeah. Here's a close up:

And... thanks for looking! Smiley

Bill Bailey! I want a Bill Bailey doll. I used to work at a comedy club where he was a regular, he is such a lovely man (Dylan Moran was a peach too). I don't remember the the doll part in Black Books, I've been begging for the DVD's for birthdays/Christmas since they were issued. I should just buy yhem myself

That was the part that gave me the idea! I was watching it with my mum and I kind of leapt up and said "THAT'S what I can do for Liz Isaac's birthday!"

lilylola: it's the one where Bernard and Manny have an argument and Manny works at that other bookshop where Simon Pegg is his boss? Also, your story outshines mine by miles! Haha. That's terrific.

On the 3 disc boxset there's an extra feature called Black Dolls with them too. They do a little episode in doll form Cheesy

Bill Bailey is just fantastic! I love that ep, esp cuz Fran just looks so comfortable having a conversation with Manny and Bernard dolls.

Altho Bernard is a complete and utter loon in that ep too. "Look at him going up those steps...I knew he'd do that! Doing that little Judas wiggle of his..."

Yeah, the bit where he spies on him through the hole in the wall is one of my favourite bits of that tv show! Smiley

No way! That's so cool! There's another reason for me to get some DVDs and stop being reliant on my mother's...

These are all so cute. Heart brit comedy. The Bill Bailey one really does look a lot like him, I wouldn't need a title to have guessed it was him! Haha. Can I ask what fabric you used that you could paint the facial details on like that, I'm thinking of doing something similar for a friend.

Im just about to start my first doll and was looking for inspiration on here- Bill Bailey is GENIUS!!  Black Books is probably in my top 5 programs ever, love it so much... How amazing would a Dylan Moran doll be? Hehe Cheesy the hair would be fun to do- would it be normal or "Irish hair"? Hehe.
