Mine are also super simple and I worry that I'm not getting the whole dotee vibe. I am enjoying the process...

I felt the same way about my dolls until I actually started to put the embellishments on. I haven't used about half of the stuff I bought for embellishing, because the "gals" just won't let me. As for the dotee vibe, I think the process is part of it. As I'm making each doll, their personality emerges. Mine are still on the simple side, but I totally got into making them (so much so that I missed the PO today and will be mailing on Monday). Wink I bet that yours will be just lovely!

LOVE the "snake" doll!

Ditto!

Actually, there hasn't been a doll posted that I wouldn't have loved to receive. They are all just fantastic!

Thanks, craftADDchick, for your kind words. I am also enjoying the process and I am learning as I go. And I agree with you about the personalities.

On a different subject, here is the lovely Green Goddess from Jenicat:

I love the clay face and the detail that is painted on (?) - it mirrors the fabric design. I love the Bali batik fabrics - have way too many yards myself. She's calm and serene, which is how I feel today. Thanks so much, Jeni!

Jenicat your dolls are too cute for words  Grin

I have one off the topic question what the heck is batik? I am in the pin cushion swap and my partner like batik...I went to hobby lobby and they looked at me like I was absolutely insane when I asked if they sold any...Is is a designer or does it have a certain look and feel? The boy said he thought it was a thicker, rough kind of feeling upholstery type fabric. Sorry for being ignorant, but I am a dollar bin kinda girl  Cheesy However I don't mind buying more expensive yardage if I really like the pattern.

batik is a dying process. The fabric is usually 100% cotton so normal weight, but dyed using wax resist. Some people kind of mistake it for tye dye.
Google image batik and you'll see some great examples of the tons of patterns.

My partner in the last OYP Swap sent me a batik print (it think it may be a graphic print rather than the real batik process):

Batik fabric

Pretty, huh? Smiley

Aw, thanks.  I had a lot of fun making them and I went a lot farther outside the box with the last 4 I made (the snake-ish one was one of them, if you can't tell Wink)...

I did spend an insane amount of time painting the faces.  I actually have a magnifying lamp, which I used to do those (and leaning over it is what made my neck hurt so much before).  I felt kind of bad because the bodies aren't nearly as embellished as last time or as nice as other peoples' are, but I figured it evened out a bit since I did more with the faces.  Wink  They were fun to make.

My favorite is the one I sent michelleames.  I hope she likes it.  It was also my hubby's favorite.

Grin I'm glad you like her. Sorry for the uneven stitching I am still learning how to do the blanket stitch. I almost was going to start over at the last minute because I like for things to be perfect... buttttt in this case practice makes perfect and they would of came out the same, plus they came out too cute to just abandon.

On a side note -thanks for the advice on batik, ladies.

I am going to be so sad when I get my last doll, you have all been a great group  Kiss.
