My son gets left out when it comes to my crafting.  I have made him a ton of hats and scarves, but he really doesn't get any clothes made for him.

I made him a simple pair of shorts with fabric that he chose.

The vacuuming action shot (Oh how the Autistic kids love the vacuum!!!)

Very cute! My sons usually get the short end of the sewing too. My 2 little ones fight me for the vacuum too, like I said LITTLE ones, lol

Those are very cute! I've been looking for something to do with flannel -- maybe this would work...

Is this something a sewing newbie could do?

This is something first time at a sewing machine do-able!!!  It's super duper easy to make!!!  No zippers.  No fly-holes.  No buttons and button holes.

It requires:
2 Hems.
A casing.
3 Seams.

these are adorable Smiley  you did a great job with them!

My daughter is Autistic too - She is not a fan of the vacuum (the noise bothers her) but she does love heavy work like that!  They look about the same age. Abbi's going to be 7 next month.

I made her a pair of bloomers using a very similar technique.  To make them into shorts (which I have done also) I just use THIS TUTORIAL and don't put the elastic in the legs. Smiley
