I was inspired by this quilt but wanted to do something on a smaller scale so this is what I came up with.  Pretty simple really, just fabric scraps and ribbon.  It makes me happy though  Smiley

It is for the upstairs guest bathroom and we are having company this weekend - I can't wait for them to use it!

Thanks for looking!

I love this, it is absolutely adorable.  Makes me want to sew, but I am not any good at it.

Cheesy  After I finished making it I thought they should be trees as well so I made a coordinating towel for the bathroom too!

Wow!  What a great take on an old craft!  I remember back in the 60's-70's, women putting ribbons and lace and such on towels.  Not my particular taste back then...but these?  Love 'em!  And what a great way to use up scraps.  Bookmarked!

AH! I love them! This is the perfect craft to stumble upon today too, I was just wondering what I was going to do with some scraps I salvaged from my parents' disintegrating 70's bath towels! The prints were just too cool to toss.  Tongue

I'm guessing you machine stitched these, was it very difficult on the bath mat? I haven't tried anything with terrycloth (especially something thick like a bath mat) yet.

I don't think there's anyway I could put something that pretty on the floor and walk on it!  I bet it makes the bathroom look great though, the design is so simple and gorgeously so.

What a great bath towel. Are you planning to use it like a regular one or to hang it?

Thanks  Smiley

It is actually a thin bathmat, not a towel.  They are kind of hard to find but I think they are called "tub mats" like at hotels.  I keep it hanging over the shower rod and when I have guests they put it on the floor to step on when getting out of the shower.  It has been well used and washed about 7 times and is fraying so nicely!

I also did something similar on a face towel and have it hanging - but for use as well.
