So i recently participated in an awesome handcarved rubber stamp swap, and received a beautiful beardsley inspired stamp from the very talented mamaedgar.

So i thought to myself what can i do with this stamp to christen it?

Write a love letter of course! So i decided to re-create a love letter from Napoleon Buonaparte and send it to my sister (who is married, and 3 years my senior) as a bit of fun, she got it in the mail yesterday and rang me in fits of giggles! it was lots of fun!

Here it is! - its a letter from Napoleon buonaparte to his lover the incomparable Josephene!

It's a beautiful letter, the text reads:

Paris, December 1795

I wake filled with thoughts of you. Your portrait and the intoxicating evening which we spent yesterday have left my senses in turmoil. Sweet, incomparable Josephine, what a strange effect you have on my heart! Are you angry? Do I see you looking sad? Are you worried?... My soul aches with sorrow, and there can be no rest for you lover; but is there still more in store for me when, yielding to the profound feelings which overwhelm me, I draw from your lips, from your heart a love which consumes me with fire? Ah! it was last night that I fully realized how false an image of you your portrait gives!

You are leaving at noon; I shall see you in three hours.

Until then, mio dolce amor, a thousand kisses; but give me none in return, for they set my blood on fire.

heheh i signed it too!
front of the envelope - the last of a set of vintage pink envelope i picked up 4 years ago!

the back - sealed with red wax and a cameo print

close up of the naughty art stamp i got off ebay! good thing i hand delivered to the mail box or this might have raised a few eyebrows!

the wax and cameo ring i used to seal the envelope!

let me know what you think!

I love how you paid attention to every detail -- including the naughty stamp and the wax seal on the back.  How much fun is this!!!  I love the whole idea.  Brilliant job!

Gorgeous, I love it!  Love the extra touch of the vintage envelope, faux postage and sealing wax.
