I'm new to craftster and this is my first post.  I don't really know what to call this craft, so if any of you have an idea, please let me know.  My boyfriend, dog, and I all have names beginning with the letter "C," so I made this letter plant stand to put next to the plants by our front door. First, I bought a wooden box, wooden stick, wooden plaque, and wooden "C" at a craft store.  Then I painted each of them and glued them together when they dried.  I mixed some raw umber in with the white paint so the plaque and box would be a little bit shabby looking, rather than really bright.  I drilled a couple of tiny holes in the bottom of the box for water to drain, put some gravel in it to weight it down, and then put soil and a small plant in the rest.  The whole project took about 3 hours, including going to the store.

Great idea. I've wanted to do something monogrammed outdoors, I just wasn't sure how/what.
