This was made based off a tutorial I found when I googled thread catchers.  I made a few changes to the dimensions and the tutorial one had the raw edges showing inside the bag.  It was made for one of my partners for the IYP swap.

The pincushion (which is removable by little velcro bits) is filled with sand to weigh down the bag portion.



And here is the size in relation to my sewing machine:

How funny! I just posted something like this yesterday. Mine has a pocket on the inside and a scissor leash. It is such a handy thing to have around. Yours looks great!

This is functional & cute. I could really use this, it would beat having to clean up my floor (I like to just throw threads on the floor & clean later). Thanks for the tutorial link.

Yup, that is the one.  I didn't use the strapping that they suggested.  Instead I used heavy interfacing and rolled the top down twice (like you turn a hem) and it was plenty stiff to hold itself open.
