we have a wonderful nectarine tree in our backyard and its just starting to fruit so we've got enough fruit to last us the rest of the year. i've never tried making recipes because it seems like theyre only limited to fruit tarts and preserves neither of which i like. then i stumbled across LTR450GirlOrl's post and i've been inspired. aside from strawberry i'm not a real fan of fruity ice cream but it just seemed like the perfect thing to make with them.

i didnt follow the recipe but rather the approach. i froze about a lb of nectarines then added roughly 1/3 of sugar and just let it come together in the food processor then just added heavy cream until it looked right and then a tsp of vanilla.

so here's a snapshot i was able to get before it was all gone Cheesy  it is absolutely delicious my only qualm is that i definitely added more sugar than needed next time i'll cut back. now im just anxious to freeze all the fruit we've got and mix flavors together!!! call me crazy but i really want to try avocado. it's my fave fruit/veg so it'd be interesting to come up with another way to consume it. i'll let you guys know if i do it.

i love soft serve ice cream and thats its exact consistency. if youre patient enough put it back in the freezer and let it harden a bit to make it more scoopable.

thanks for looking Wink

Your ice cream looks so fresh and delicious, now I want to try it!

Avocado ice cream also sound interesting. I have a recipe for Avocado cheesecake--always thought it would be good, 'cause they're so creamy, but never tried it.  Tell us how how it tastes!

thanks for the replies everyone!

i cant tell you guys enough how delicious it is!!! this is the absolute perfect recipe for summer because its so quick if only i wasnt so damn impatient. waiting for the fruit to freeze kills me  Tongue   so i'm definitely going to costco tomorrow and am buying some avocados. i've eaten them in some pretty bizzare ways but that will probably be the craziest!!

so here are the pics of the avocado ice cream. i made it this morning  Wink

the avocado processed with sugar

once i added the cream

very rich, creamy, and scoopable!

YUM!!!

ok so the veredict: being an avocado afficionado i loved it! its just sweet creamy avocado. i added lemon juice when i froze it so it wouldnt brown, and it didnt. it was three medium avocados and about 7tbs of sugar and 1/2 pint of cream. and it tastes just like avocado, nothing else. if i were to make it in the future [small batch since no one else in my family could get past the fact that it looks like guacamole] i would add perhaps some banana for its texture and sweetness that way i could cut back more on the sugar. i would recommend it if you want to try something new or if you LOVE avocados unconditionally. like i said the rest of my fam was too "grossed out" to try it. if anyone does please post back and tell me what you think Wink
