How about some shoes made out of can tabs?  That's right.  They are made from soda and beer can pull tabs.   Grin

Probably not the most practical thing.  Once lined, though, it is rather comfortable.  It took almost 300 tabs per shoe, and took 2 days to make the pair.  I hadn't added the lining or finished off the loose ends in the pic.  I'm looking for some jewels to hang in the ring in the fruit can tab at the tip of the toes.  The pic shows a couple bells in it.

More about these silly shoes, including a pattern, can be seen here:

Those are just to wild.  I would never have though of tab shoes.  First thought was wouldn't they hurt.  It would take me forever to get 600 tabs together.  Very clever idea though.

*bows before the awesomeness that is your skill*

I saw your site. Its fantastic what you do with tabs.
I have a collection of them myself and have been looking for a great thing to do with them.
Thanks for the inspiration Cheesy

Wowzers!  It's like chain maille pajamas for your feet!  Like Hugh Hefner would wear if he was a knight or something.

wow those are pretty cool.  Where did you come up with the idea?  I've been saving pop tabs to make a crochet belt or a purse.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies.

I know it's hard to believe, but they are very comfortable, but we have discovered they can be very slippery on linoleum surfaces.  Smiley

The idea started as a joke as did pretty much all my other can tab projects.  To create the shoes, I looked at several websites with different style shoes 'til I found styles that would be easy to create and matched mom's personality.  Pointed shoes worked well because the weave pattern I use creates great triangular shapes.

Anyone who wants to try it, go ahead and make a pair based on my pattern and show us what you come up with.  Smiley  You could easily put a flat sole on the bottom instead of all tabs.
