Canidae is a very good food. And the thing about the more expensive food, it is a better quality and has better ingredients and it fills them up faster so they shouldnt be eating as much as with a lesser quality food.

if you look into it there's some websites and books about cooking for your dogs and other animals too.. i've been known to make "real" food for my dogs from time to time and they LOVE it (to no one's surprise i'm sure)

yeah i heard that cooking for ur dog is very similar to cooking for yourself,  just use no spices and no onions.

Also, no grapes or raisins.  They can cause kidney failure.  Walnuts and macadamia nuts are also a "no no".  I've heard mixed things about garlic.  I think in small quantities it's ok, and possibly even beneficial.  But onions are right out.  They can cause anemia.

When my dog had bad diahrea (from too many antibiotics) I cooked up some lean ground beef and regular white rice and mixed them together.  Then I slowly mixed her regular food back in. She ate it right up and it helped her poop.

My vet has always suggested boiled chicken and white rice.  Though I have heard that lean beef mixed with that is good, too.

This is the best swap idea ever!!  I'm sending my info in now  Grin

I just wanted to add pics of my pitties
They both have their own Myspace, it's in my profile if you wanna add them lol.

Kaptain

Rayna

Rayna is a rescue dog, the people that had her were trying to make her fight other dogs, but she wouldn't so they had her chained to a tree and were starving and beating her.  She's come a very long way since I've had her, and she is such an attention whore now, and she is crazy smart.  I got Kaptain from some people who dog had just had pups, but they all got sick and the people couldn't afford to take care of them. So I took him home at 5 weeks, got him healthy and he's been my man every since.
