I had always wanted to try needlepoint or cross-stitching. I knew I would need to do something simple to get used to the craft, but this was NOT a simple choice hahaha. I'm not sure what we call needle work done on plastic canvas, does it have a separate term other than just cross stitching?

Anyhow, the story behind this is that one of my dearest friends has been stationed in Iraq for over 1 year and I wanted to make him something special to send out there. He and I met through our love for the bands The Misfits and Samhain so I thought a good nerdy tribute to that would be an unexpected Misfits logo.
I didn't use a pattern, just drew the Misfits skull right on the canvas with a sharpie. The left side of the skull is a bit deformed because I got way too carried away with the cheekbone but I think the rest is as good a resemblance as I could get considering the medium, hehe.
My next plastic canvas project - a portrait of Morrissey!

HEY! I did that on a sweatshirt for my husband's birthday. I will see if I can get a picture for ya if you want to see my results... Smiley Mine took me like a year, but I was younger and lazier back then... I love the colors on your canvas.

I'd love to see yours, funkensteins! Mine took me at least 9 hours total probably. I spent much of my early teens cutting logos out of shirts or patches and then sewing them to something else so this sort of OCD project was bound to happen eventually, heh =)

Thanks for all the compliments everyone!
