Okay, I went to this shop that had tons of beautiful Mexican folk art.  Sure, I feel weird with the "cultural appropriation" aspect of it (I'm not Mexican) but it's done with respect.  So anyway, I was inspired to do my little derivative version of what I saw there and viola! came up with this tribute to my favorite dead artists.

I'm especially proud of the little stones with their ghost-like faces framing the piece. I'm also thinking of illuminating the inside of the alter with birthday candles!

From bottom left we have:
Jim Henson, Jimi Hendrix, Oscar Wilde, EA Poe, Kurt Cobain, William Shakespeare, Nick Drake, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keeffe, Elliott Smith, Virginia Woolf, and Vincent van Gogh.
May they all RIP.

Very cool! I like the idea of adding light to the inside.
