Think about it this way: if you like things perfect, those things will be perfect!

Ooooh!  I love how you combined coordinating fabric pieces!  I've been sewing all my life, and I am impressed.  You're a natural!

Thank you all so much for the kind words.  It inspires me to continue making bags.  I started sewing last year, thinking I needed a hobby.  I was in a car accident almost 6 years ago (I'm 27 now), and am unable to work.  I needed something to do, because not working has taken a huge toll on me mentally. However, anything that requires me to have my head looking down (which is about every aspect of sewing!!), can worsen my pain. Sooo...I have to take things very slow and take breaks every 15-20 minutes, which means that a bag can take a few days to complete. I look forward to days that my pain level is down so I can sew!!
Anyways, I was hoping to have enough bags to sell before the local Christmas festival this year, but I don't think I am going to make it!! I do plan to make a few bags and donate them to a local church for their fall festival in October.
I was not sure that I liked the stripes on the front of the bag.  I had it sitting on the table for a few days and would analyze it everytime I walked by!! lol  My boyfriend thought it looked "fine" (you know how guys are!!), so I decided that I would continue on making the bag.  I like how the button and loop closure looks, however, it really isn't practical.  I am thinking that my mom will leave the loop just hang open most of the time, because it is kind of a pain to close it everytime you take something out of the bag.  Oh well, I guess I know that for next time!!
Thank you all again for the very kind words, I truly do appreciate it.

Love love love the color scheme. Brown/Blue and Brown/Pink are some of my favorite combos.  Grin I love the design too.

Here's an idea about the button dilemma: You could sew the button on the top of the flap rather than the buttonhole.  Then sew a little snap under the flap.  So the button would just be decorative.  Would that make sense?

Also, I can relate to the physical demands of sewing.  One of the things I do is cut several bags at once and do all the interfacing, pinning, etc. when my back hurts too much to sit at the sewing machine.

Good luck!

How odd. I hurt more when I sew than anything else.

What pattern did you use for your bag.. it is so cute.

I found that if I cut and iron as I go, I don't end up with a backache...
