Let me start with...this is my first diaper bag.

Funky Diaper Bag made from parent's uniforms and patches. I used a ton of pockets from the uniforms, patches, and even one of the waist bands with loops. I used magnet closures to make it easier to open the bag and pockets.

Back of the Diaper Bag - I know my friend would want something she could just detach and take with her into the corner store without having to store it in the bag, so I made up this clutch and it has the ability to snap to the back of the diaper bag. Easy removal and attachment. I put the snaps on both sides of the clutch so it adds a little decorative touch.

Clutch by itself

Side of diaper bag shows the additional pockets and the ends of the army utility belt we used as the strap. It can be worn like a messanger bag or a regular diaper bag.

Inside of diaper bag showing the waist band sewn around the top so that you can clip things to the loops. It also shows the fun inside lining fabric.

Inside of bag...I applied the iron on vinyl covering to all of the lining and the bottom of the bag

Pocket made to hold the changing pad I made to match

Changing Pad closed - I used the leg of the uniform and kept the pocket for storage. It just slides into the pocket made for it.

This shows the pocket from the changing pad -

Changing Pad partially open -

Pad all the way open -

Thank you for taking the time to look..I know I am a picture hog.

Wow, that's impressive.  I like how personal it is for the recipient.  All of your little details show a lot of thought and affection.

Grin This is amazing. I think the clutch idea is genius. My mom used to use her diaper bag as a purse as well and she hated carrying the huge thing around into stores and stuff. She would have loved to have something like this. You did a great job, it totally rocks.

At first, and even on the other thread, I thought you had modified an existing bag.

Your eye to detail is amazing.  Smiley

That's great!  I loved Bandwife's BDU totes and backpack she posted a while back and have kept them in my "favorites" file for later inspiration.  I'm adding your diaper bag to the list of things I must do before I die.   Smiley  I'm hitting "this rocks!"

I found this at Joanne's Fabric.
It is called  Heat'n Bond Flexible Vinyl.

Here is a link showing it on their website. This link is for a 20 yard bolt..which is obviously expensive, but I think that is the only way they sell it online. I can usually go in the store and buy it by yard. It is way fun and comes in glossy and matte finishes.
