Reserved for important Hostess updates :-)

1. One note about Doll fabrics- felt works best- or a fabric that is more stabilized.
The  point being the fabric needs to be able to withstand all the beadwork that will be done on it. Cottons with lower thread counts dont work as well in my past experiences.
2. It is not required, but I am including beading needles and nymo thread in my kit so my partner will have everything needed to begin. Just thought I'd mention that in case anyone else wants to do the same. Im sure your partner will appreciate it!

I make a lot of little dolls, but I'm very new to beading.  I looked at your links, and I still can't figure out exactly what "cabochon" means.  Sorry I'm a little slow... Grin

A cabochon, in this case, I think just means that it is a hard, one piece face, right?  You can get flexible molds for doll faces at craft stores, right in the polymer clay area.

I've been wondering...do you just glue the faces on, or do you make little holes on the face to sew through?

i don't think I'll be able to do this, but I think its a great idea!  I'll be watching the gallery for sure!

Oh that's easy, if that's the case.  I have some of those molds which I use with different types of clay.  I have both glued them onto fabric or made little holes in them and sewed them on.  Someone around craftster suggested that those molds could be used with resin, which I haven't tried but sounds pretty cool.  I've also seen some stunning clay faces made freehand, without the push molds, but I'm pretty sure I can't do that... I posted this so those that are not sure, will see what they are looking for or something like it.

These are the first and only ones I have made so far......I am going to try the hole thing to sew to fabric.  I am not sure about what type of glue to use, any help would be grateful.

This is not the only face out there....purchased at Hobby Lobby and Michael' s pulse what you find on the internet.

I'm sure there is a better way to do this, but I don't know how.  But if you go to here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=236472.10
and scroll down a bit you will see my all time favorite glue, which is kinda stinky but holds anything to anything.  I glued on some of my faces to the butterfly dolls I made for the dottee doll swap. which is here, in case anyone here has not seen it yet.

Thanks for the info ladies!
I use the E6000 craft glue & it is excellent. You just have to make sure that it cures a full 24 hours.
They sell it at Michaels, JoAnns's etc & other places.
Here is a link so you know what to look for in the store ( It comes in a black tube)
