Experienced needle workers, novices and those interested in learning about yarn crafts are invited to Knit-Out 2008 & Crochet & Weave (KOCW) on Sunday, October 5 from noon to 5 PM in the Plummer Studio the Seminar Room, Lexington Arts and Crafts Society (LACS), 130 Waltham Street, Lexington, MA.  Members of the Needle Arts Guild of LACS will be on hand to demonstrate different needle art techniques and answer questions about the group.   Events that day will include trunk shows by local yarn manufacturers, fashions by local knitwear designers, demonstrations of yarn-related activities, charity projects, and knitting speed competitions.

KOCW 2008 will kick off the Needle Arts Guilds show Pins and Needles which runs from October 5 through 18, 2008,  Tuesday through Friday and Sunday 12 to 4 pm, Saturday between 10 am and 4 pm (Monday closed) in the Parsons Gallery, also at 130 Waltham St.

Visitors to KOCW 2008 can knit or crochet a 7x9 rectangle to be incorporated into a blanket for Warm UP America or a chemo hat for cancer patients.   Needles, hooks, patterns and yarns will be available. Individuals who cannot attend on October 5 can drop off rectangles or hats they have made at home to the LACS during gallery hours.

Diane Johnson, chair of the Needle Arts Guild, attended the last local Knit Out 2005 on the Boston Common.  Asked why the LACS Needle Arts Guild is sponsoring an event, Johnson replied, I was so inspired by the variety of yarns and ideas I saw that I wanted to provide that same experience for others.
