so once upon a time a girl got a cusion replaced on the leather couch at her house. her mom was ever-so-smart and thought, "my daughter will make fine use of this extra leather!" and her prophecy was fullfilled: the girl set out on a quest to make a classic jordy purse from the leather. she fought with her needle through many obstacles and finally, after much trial and tribulation, she succeded in creating:

i used thin strips of leather to make leather "string" ties for closure. whaddaya think?

well... it was my first time using leather, for anything, and i managed to break two needles (my strongest). while i wouldnt call myself a guru, i'd say youre pretty much set now that you have some strong leather needles. i also used normal thread, i dont thing you need anything especially thick. and sew sloooww... going too fast is what broke my needles i think  Sad

I have found using a roller foot helps too, less needle breakage. Cute bag I like the shape.

squirelpoo...the walking feet attachments are miracle workers for leather and pleather, also vinyl.  I bought a walking foot for my Bernina for almost $150; it's a must have.  Having a Bernina is really great too.
