I had a four day weekend and decided to use it well.  I have never sewn from a pattern before and decided this was the weekend to try.  I bought a super easy pattern that said it could be sewn in an hour (or 15 depending on how much you screw up).  I ended up burning up my old sewing machine (which was ok because it was my mother's high school graduation present in 1973) and having to go out halfway through and buy a new one.  At least now I've got the hang of it and love the results.  I will definately be doing this more often now!  This is McCall's M5430 view A.
Sorry my pics suck.  This one was taken before it was ironed.

And this one was after I wore it all day.

Sorry for the weird angle, I do have two legs and my carpet is white not some sort of 60's yellow.

I really appreciate any feedback and advice!

That's really nice!  Well done.

Incidentally, what pattern did you use? I'd love to have a skirt like this for the summer.

LOVE the fabric you used! The skirt is cute, too. Is it a wrap skirt?

Yes, I was afraid I would expose myself all day but it stayed closed Smiley

Oh, I've made 5 out of this same pattern!!!  Great job on a first try, too!!!

As a side note, if you live in a windy place (I'm in Dallas and it can be pretty dang windy here), you can either put in a snap or button & hole around mid to lower thigh area to keep it from breezing open!!!!

That is gorgeous!  I will have to get this pattern--all my wrap skirts seem to have mysteriously shrunk ( Roll Eyes ) and I could use a new one! Or three!
