June 3, 2009: Wow!!!! Thank you so much everyone. And thanks craftster...Best of 2008 is such an honor!!!!!!!

So, this is one of my favorite projects ever.

Here was my crazy process:
1)Bleach shoes to see if "cute" splotches are, in fact, cute.
2)Decide that I hate the splotches [and that they don't cover up the grubby stains.]
3)Buy black dye from Walmart to dye shoes with.
4)Shoes come out blue. Shweet. Yea, they actually are blue, the pics just look grey.
5)Leave shoes in closet for about 3 months while I half-finish other projects.
6)Pull them back out two nights ago to chop off the toes.
7)Add ribbon, fabric glue, and buttons. And there you go. I'm actually quite surprised at how even everything is. I was pretty much just choppin' and eyballin' it all.

Be careful with glitter. It never goes away. Glitter is the herpes of craft supplies.

Those are the cutest reconned shoes I've ever seen!!!! GREAT job!

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

so cute! I love the colors. How did you keep the stitching pink?

i can't stop looking at them. and i'm wondering, did the dye just not sit on the thread? because the pink thread coming through is such a nice touch!

Yea. Thread just doesn't dye. I've done these shoes and two other shirts before and the thread never dyes. Which is fine with me really.
