This is a very cool piece. It didn't seem macabre to me (and even less so with the toe tag translated). More like, an artistic rendering of that point or period we all go through, that river we cross mostly in adolescence, where death finally makes it's way over the doorstep and into our lives and our psyches - either literally or just figuratively.

The death of a grandparent could do it literally, or being abused. The Vogue pictures of What's-Her-Name Cyrus could do it figuratively. It's unique to each person, but it happens to us all.

I really love this piece. It is an amazing display of your grasp on not only the human figure but realistic lighting. Makes me want to pick up a paintbrush again it's been soooo long since I have touched a canvas. Love it.

I have to agree that this doesn't seem macabre to me. I think it looks like the road to something new and different,  a passageway. It looks like a reverence to the human body, the vehicle for the spirit. The technique you used, painting in black and white, and the subject matter are all beautiful. As for it's relevance to this challenge, I think it's missed its mark.
