A Box Full of Memories: Changed picture links!

My hero? My mother. My mother was diagnosed with cancer when I was in 5th grade. She passed away a year later when I was in 6th grade, I was 11 years old. I'm now a 14 year-old, going to be a freshman, and I look back on how strong she was, even when she was bedridden. She always managed to smile when I would talk to her in her bed.
She managed to eat a little something, even though her body was shutting down, and all through this she praised God.

It was extremely difficult for me to figure out what to do. Then I thought, well when I grow up and start a family, my children will not get to see their wonderful Grandma, so I decided to make this little number. For now, I can use it and look back on all the good times we had.

I'm so sorry you lost your mom at such a young age. Your project sounds very heart-felt and personal, I look forward to being able to see how you've preserved her memory for generations to come. I bet your mom was overflowing with pride for you...

That's a great memory box.  I love how you used paper dolls.  I used to play with paper dolls all the time.  This is a very nice tribute to your mom.

I cried when I read your mom's letter too, thanks for sharing something so personal! 

I was wondering if you would retype the recipe for French Silk Pie here?  I promised a friend I would make them a french silk pie this weekend, and I would love to use your mom's recipe

Sure! Here it is! When I write fast, My handwriting it kind of sloppy!!

FRENCH SILK PIE!
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter (NOT margarine)
3 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 9 inch Baked Pastry Shell (Messeage me if you want the recipe for that too)
Unsweetened whip cream
chocolate curls

In a small mizer bowl cream sugar and butter about 4 minutes or till fluffy. Blend in cooled chocolate and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time beating on medium spped of electrical mixer after each addition and scraping sides of bowl constantly. Turn into baked pie shell. Chill several hours or overnight till set. Garnish with whip cream and chocolate curls*.

*It's kind of hard to get luscious curls!! A cheese curler thingy works best, but a potato peeler will also work. When you put the peeler to the chocolate bar, work carefully, going slowly.

Hope you enjoy! This is a very rich recipe and some littluns may not like it! But it's a real lip licker for the rest of the family!
