Hi everyone!  This is such an exciting theme for a challenge, that I'm posting on Craftster for the first time!  This is also the first time I'm embroidering with a few different stitches, instead of just gratuitous satin stitch.

I have a lot of childhood heroes, but right now I'm getting into the sustainable building movement and building environmentally sound houses, so the Lorax and Dr. Seuss naturally came to mind!

I also had a nice moment with my mom, who walked in on me trying to figure out French knots (which are his pupils!).  I said, "Mom, do you know how to do French knots?" and she went "Yeah, my mother taught me!" And we had a nice mother-daughter-passing-on-craft-knowledge moment of French knot glory.

Here are a few pictures!  I didn't catch the natural light before the sun set, so the color and brightness are a little off:

I actually wanted to go a lot further with this and sew it onto the cover of a small sketch book with some truffula trees on the back!  I've started embroidering the truffula trees, but selling my furniture, moving, and then changing all my summer house building plans this month really cramped my style!  I'm hoping to finish that and sew it onto the sketch book soon so I can sketch lots of earthen houses that the Lorax would be proud of in it.  But I am pretty happy with how the Lorax himself turned out!

Holy mother of... hand embroidered? I love the Lorax. Love. I also totally thought this was machine embroidered. You have made skills. And what a fabulous subject choice.

Love the Lorax, and love the color background you chose on this as well.  Your embroidery is beautiful!
