Details of swap:

Attention all you Nancy Drew fans!!  We will be swapping Nancy Drew-themed items!

What We'll be Swapping:

We'll be swapping items of all kinds (no restrictions) with the only stipulation that the item has to have something dealing with Nancy Drew on it.  That can be Nancy herself, or a person, place, or thing from one of her books.  You can even swap Nancy Drew books, since they can be a bit hard to find.
We will be making a Nancy Drew package for our partners, consisting of 1 Large, and 1 medium project, based on their favorite Nancy Drew books.  You and your partner can also agree, if you'd like, (this is totally optional)- to swap actual Nancy Drew books with each other (again, this part is optional).  In the questionnaire below, try to list a few of your favorite books to give your partner a better chance of finding your favorite book.  If you can't find your partner's favorite book, you can also check your local library or if you'd like to expand your own collection, EBay or Alibris (http://www.alibris.com/).  There also some good reviews on Epinions.com, like this one, that you can use as well (http://www.epinions.com/Mystery_of_the_Brass_Bound_Trunk_by_Carolyn_Keene/display_~reviews).

Project sizes\specs:
(These are just so you get the idea, you don't have to make these if you don't want to)
Large:  Purse, skirt, throw blanket, I pod pillow, video\DVD organizer that is large in size, jewelry set (5 or more pieces), Large size papier mache item
Medium:  I Pod case, clock, household organizer (i.e. remote control organizer), book purse, jewelry (individual pieces), Medium size papier mache item.

Swap deadline:  I have made the swap with a September 12th deadline so that everyone can have ample time to craft without feeling rushed.   However, I will be following up with everyone in the swap by PM or email once a week just to check in.  Also, it would be helpful to post on here once a week, as well.

Sending\Receiving:  Please send all packages to your partner by September 12th.  After you've sent, please PM me to let me know you've sent, and include the confirmation number of all packages sent.  When you've recieved your package from your partner, please PM me to let me know, so that I may give them credit.  Also, please take pictures of what you've recieved and post them in the Swap Gallery post I will set up at the end of the swap.  I will leave feedback for everyone immediately after the swap.

Misc:  You MUST have access to a digital camera to participate in the swap.  Your partner is excited for everyone to see the items they've crafted for you!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:

Oh Nancy Drew! I wish I had read more of them so I could be a good participant. All I can remember about the ones I read is the covers.

I loved Nancy Drew as a girl, but don't remember enough what my favorite books and plots were.  I am still tempted to join the swap...Because as an icon/role model, she rocked.

I think it wise, Dearest Nancy Wink Now I have to decide if it is wise to take on 3 swaps while I have a full time and part time job! Oh my! I just might have to... I do love the Drew..

Also, I'd like to add that abebooks.com is another great place to get out of print/hard to find books. And you local bookstore should be more than happy to try ordering from INgram/B&T for you if you ask.

I might have to come back to this swap!

Nancy, an attractive and intelligent girl with strawberry blond hair and twinkling blue eyes said, "Gee, swell, now I can join this swap. I will submit my questionnaire soon."

Hi everyone!

Thought I'd touch base; I've added some names for the swap!  Here are some other good websites where you can find out more about the Nancy Drew series if you'd like:  http://www.series-books.com/nancydrew/nancydrew.html (this has cover art too), and http://www.nancydrewsleuth.com/  (this site is a really thorough overview of everything Nancy Drew).  If you're looking for any of the books, I noticed one of the Borders in my area having the new yellow hardcover reprints in the children's section.  I'm hatching some rough craft ideas for the swap and I'm going to probably dive into my collection this weekend and finish "The Ringmasters Secret".  Nancy makes for perfect weekend reading.

Nancy Drew and Andy Warhol...this should be fun!

I finally checked out some of cerealboxes' books from my library. The process was hellish, that place is very disorganized.

Oh yes, I also love my Andy.  I don't really have the money for actual prints of his, so I cut out some close to-scale photos in books and put them in frames with a fancy cardstock beige background, and hung them up in my entranceway in my house.  I'll take a pic tomorrow or Wednesday of that little Andy Warhol gallery; I have to put up two other pictures to balance out the layout hehe:)

How is everyone doing so far?   Any questions or concerns? Sorry to hear about the trouble you had, koolkoala!  Unfortunately, Nancy isn't as popular as she once was, so it can be a little harder to find an easy source of info for her.  Still, I'm more than happy to help if youd like me to.

Happy Sleuthing!

I wanna see the Andy Warhol gallery! Well, I'm almost done with one item. I had a lot of time on my hands yesterday and today. It's turning out to be more "out there" than I had previously thought it would be...um yea I hope that's okay...

ooh, I suppose that would make things a little tricky.

I finished up my stuff today. I'm kinda wishing I had taken advantage of the long crafting time to give more consideration to what and how I should create. I really hope I didn't make bizarre stuff that nobody besides me would understand. Ahhhh, just thinking about it is making me nervous! Is this a normal feeling?

Hi guys!

How is everything going so far?  Don't worry, Captjanewy, I made the deadline to be wide for that reason; in case someone goes on vacation or something comes up.  I can message your partner in about a week or so if you'd like me to check in with her.  In the swaps I've been in, something like this always seemed to pop up:)  Thanks again Koolkoala for sending your package so early!  I've already got one of your big things done and have another idea for something small...check your PMs for that.   If anyone has any questions or concerns, again, please let me know Smiley

Hi koolkoala:

Depending on the organizer, feedback is left at different times, normally at the end of a swap.  I've left you feedback in your profile, though, since you sent your package and I recieved.  Wow; thanks again for sending so early; I'm really impressed by your initiative!  You've been awesome to have in this swap!  If you find you really like swapping, did you know that you can organize your own swaps after you've participated in two (this swap counts as one, so you'd just need one more)?

Hi everyone!

Swap send out is approaching so I'm just checking in to make sure everything is going OK for everyone...Let me know if you're having any concerns, or if you know you might be late sending so I can note that.  Koolkoala, I'm almost done with your package! One of your things is extremely detailed so I'm still working on that part.  I'll be mailing out next week!

I received from Pantsafari today! I don't think we have a gallery so I'll post the pics here.

An overnight case to keep in my car so I'm ready for any situation! Just like Nancy!

And a monogrammed luggage tag!!!

The inside....

With a secret compartment! How cool is that!

Inside the bottom

Thanks Pantsafari! I love it! She also made me a really awesome card but I forgot to take a picture of it.
When I read her card I had to start laughing because she mentioned Nancy being a world traveler and well....my project is along the same line Smiley
