It seems like every time that I decide I want to crochet a sweater/button-up for fall and winter, all the patterns I can find are these fugly 70's types of things.

Are there any nice, modern crocheted button-up/sweater patterns out there anymore? I've seen the things in the Happy Hooker, and I'm trying to find more things like that.

Thanks in advance!

I never read the Happy Hooker and I'm not exactly the most fashionable one here...XD

But I'm planing to finish this pullover by the end of summer.

It's a beach cover up really, but I live in Southern California so there isn't really cold sessions here.
You will need a sign-up to see the pattern though!
Lion brand have a couple of nice sweater patterns...

I hear you! I finally started designing my own cardigan because I couldn't find any patterns I liked.
(Also, I tried the FrouFrou sweater from HH and it turned out rather like a large, ruffled bedspread. Sigh!)

Garnstudio.com has really great patterns, but they're usually rather vague, or so I've been told. If you're not used to following patterns, or aren't very experienced, I'd be careful with these.

Fabulous and Flirty Crochet has some cute sweaters, although I haven't made any of them.

Magazines like Crochet Today! and Interweave Crochet are also good about having more up-to-date clothing items featured, although, being magazines, they may be more difficult to get your hands on.

Also, I would go to your nearest Borders or Barnes&Noble and look through their Needle Arts sections. You'd be surprised how many great pattern books there are out there until you've found a decent selection. Borders and B&N tend to have the widest crochet/knitting selections as far as book stores go (at least in my area).

I like to do personal swaps now and again.

I knit, crochet, and make stitch markers.

Just pm me if you wanna swap. Smiley
