OK - this top sure gave me a lot of trouble!!! It started out simple enough and I had glorious ideas swimming in my head....but the vintage (60s) fabric had ideas of it's own. It was very difficult to work with in small pieces. I had wanted to do strips of 1" alternating fabric under chest but the vintage (only part cotton) fabric would not hold in the stitch. So, I ended up throwing out a bit of it that could not be saved.

I am very pleased with the end result. Sometimes, you just have to follow the life within the fabric, do the fabric and let the fabric do you.

This is the first top I have done...though it follows most of the steps in the top parts of the 2 dresses I made.

Top with regular pants, as I plan to wear it sometimes as a summer top:

Now the top with the pants it was made for:

That is one adorable outfit! It reminds me of a vintage swim suit or play suit, just perfect for the beach or a picnic. Very feminine. I love it!

Say hello to my lil' friend!

Cool!  I love the stripes in the top - well done  Grin

I may not have gone where I intended, but I have ended up where I needed to be.

Wow! The top looks lovely. I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear it with the matching pants though, a bit too bold and brassy for me. I love the fabric though and I'd wear the pants with a white top and the top with white pants. Great job!

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!  I LOVE everything that you have made!!!  I think my favourite part of this top is that you have the straps lined up with the fabric on the yoke so it looks like one solid stripe of fabric!!!!

The colours of the fabric are glorious!  Even though your vintage fabric didn't want to work the way you had envisioned it, this top is glorious!!!!
