I entered a contest to celebrate the release of a new book (titled "Beards of our Forefathers") and so I made a set of US presidents who wore beards. Except Garfield, because Garfield isn't funny.

Each president is approx. 3 inches tall, and their heads are about the size of a penny or nickel.

Martin Van Buren (not really a beard, but I like his mutton chops!)

Abraham Lincoln

Rutherford Hayes

Benjamin Harrison

Ulysses Grant

Thanks everyone! I'm not sure that the contest runner wants the originals or if he just wants the pictures... if he doesn't want the originals, I'm glad to send them to a good home. If any of you are history buffs, let me know and I'll drop them in the mail. Smiley

These are crazy funny.  What a rare talent to take such an excrutiatingly boring subject and turn it into something really funny.  The dialog bubbles are hysterical.

Thanks again everyone for your kind words! I've made some other needle felted goodies in the past few months (I am still kind of new to this art form), if you're interested I have collected them all in a set on my Flickr account.

Oh my God, that's so amazing! Crafting and history is a wonderful combination. I remember reading that Martin Van Buren is thought to be one of the worst presidents in history, but he did have quite the handsome muttonchops.

Those are all very cute. I too love beards. And that one does look like one of the old geezers from the muppets. And that's a good thing. Love the photo. You have a fun sense of humor.
