This is my entry for the LoobyLu February month of Softies http://www.loobylu.com/softies The theme was Alice in Wonderland revisited and as soon as I heard that I knew I just had to make a flamingo.

I used pale pink soft material for the body and knitted the beak and feet from some Rowan All Seasons Cotton. The eyes are googly ones with big eyelashes and her legs are made from plaited R2 braid yarn. My little girl thought she should have a necklace so we found a small amount of flower ribbon and used that. I bought some beautiful feathers from John Lewis to attach to her body to resemble wings. I had originally cut some out of the fabric to use but the feathers ended up looking more flamingoish to me.

I'm now thinking of making her a family of little flamingos as I heard a rumour (via my 4 year old) that she was lonely!!
