Your the peach!  (as my son would say when he was a bit smaller!)  I'm a huge fan of the library where I get most of the craft books that I don't buy.  I've got the poppet pattern but haven't made her yet....she's really bugging me to get out. Grin

crafte, are the books better for idea's? I watched the movie last night and was thinking, where all the cute little creatures I saw on the website???  Loved the movie though. Even hubby thought it was a cute movie.
The little flower fairies are so pretty.

I might take a run over to the library to see if they have any of the books in.

You'll actually find more pictures on the Spiderwick Website. They have all the illustrations from the books and ones that are only in the field guides. One thing to consider is that you don't have to make a creature. One of the books is about how the Malory gets captured by the Dwarves. They put her into an enchanted sleep, and dress her in midevil dress and lay her with a beautiful head wreath made from beautifully silver smithed leaves and flowers, and give her a fabulous sword. There are also descriptions of the some of the other fantastic things made by the Dwarves. One is a full sized silver smithed tree, and the other that comes to mind is the clock work dogs.
There is mention made in the Chronicles of Spiderwick a sort of journal kept by Arthur Spiderwick, of disappearances of children. You could duplicate his field guide, and make one of your own. You could illustrate it with your own creatures.
If you don't have time to read the books, you could stop off at a Barnes and Noble and just leaf through Arthur Spiderwick's journal. There's also a care of creatures sort of manual that you could look for.

Thanks crafte, I'm going to try to get to the library tonight before they close. If not I might go look at some of the books at the bookstore. Wink

I've just added a link to a pattern for a cloth doll troll. It's a Judi Ward doll I love her stuff) and she's asking $8 for a e-mailed pattern.
And I added a link for a free pattern for a flower fairy.
My Elenore, Sea Maid, and Thimbletack patterns are free. PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.
