I made this cake in April for my husband's birthday barbecue. He got an "official" birthday cake on his actual birthday that wasn't so girly. I am not that mean. The daffodils are all handmade with gum paste and they took slightly over forever to make. I believe there was around 30 when all was done. The stems are marshmallow fondant.

Without further ado....

And for fun, a picture that my hubby took of drying gum paste flowers in the oven.

those are absolutely beautiful! Haven't used gum paste before... is it easy to use? (and more importantly: how does it taste?  Grin)

This is absolutely an incredible cake.  The daffodil's are so life like.  I had to look close!! WoW!! great job.  I won't even ask if it tasted good.  With something that looks that good doesn't need to. (kidding, I know it must have been delicious.) (Love those little cups the flowers are drying out in.)

I thought it was real too.  Then I thought there were actual flowers on the cake.
Amazing.  Absolutely amazing.
