I do!  I don't know what kind of yarn I'll use though.

I am going to make the first one using Light & Lofty in Antique Rose.

I might even play with the stitch pattern, but with boucle, it's a little pointless. Undecided

What are y'all going to do?

I've done the one in the first pic--darn I'll have to take apic and post it.

It turned out pretty good, but I had to adjust the slit in the back,.. my back is wider than it allows for.

but it's pretty straight forward.

i was always curious about the first one.  on the model, it looks as though it would fit awkwardly if her arms were down.  i hesitated to start b/c i thought it might look frumpy.

I decided that since the construction is so basic and I can't possibly get the guage I'm supposed to using Light & Lofty, I'm going to use some instructions from Crochetville to make my shrug.

The basic idea is here:  http://p084.ezboard.com/fcrochetvillefrm25.showMessage?topicID=322.topic

Cool!  Grin

I think that I will begin it this weekend.  I have a train ride ahead of me--2 hours there, 2 hours back--and it will definitely help me pass the time.

What yarn are you using?

I'm not positive but I think I'l use the Red Heart undyed lot in the brightest yellow I can find. My town is SEVERELY limited in yarn selection (just a few colors at Wal-Mart and that is it) so I use what I can. I don't have any yellow clothes and thought that a bright yellow shrug would be great for spring. Sorta like a baby chick or something. This will be my first crochet along and I'm so excited.

HAPPY CROCHETING!

Okay, I'm in on this shrug CAL.  I can't resist any longer  Roll Eyes.
I'm gonna be doing the one that pfirsch and cherryberry are doing; the cocoon sweater.  I've already begun.  I had a ton of Caron's Simply Soft in "bone" so I'm using that.  Nice and neutral.

I finally started mine and it's going fairly quickly.  I know that if I use Light & Lofty again, a smaller hook would work better.  I'm using an N and it's making the work too holey for my taste, but I don't want to undo what I've already done.

Oh, if you use the formula for the cocoon sweater, remember that the measurement is of your back is all that you need.  Measuring from wrist to wrist makes the shrug extremely loose.  and the length of the back depends on how big your arms are and how far you want the shrug to fall down your back.  I'm making the back 14" to have enough ease in the upperarms but to keep them fairly fitted.

How are everybody else's shrugs coming along?

I put my shrug aside, but I think I will pick it back up again.  I might just have enough yarn to finish it.  If not, I can always call my mama to send me another skein.

It's really warm even though there are holes between the stitches.

I finally finished mine, too!  I should have been done sooner, but oh well.  It's done now.

I have a question:  Are y'all going to put any kind of collar or edging on your shrugs?

Right now, I feel like something is missing, but I'm not sure what would work best.  If somebody had some shell-type edgings that they could suggest, that would be great.

I will post pictures this weekend.

What about the rest of y'all?  Anybody else finished?  kutrina, I am curious to see how yours turned out.
