So I'm sort of obsessed with making fairy themed shadow boxes at the mo'. I've just used Dollarstore boxes and filled them with found treasures, vintage buttons, four leaf clovers, bones and whatever else happens to be laying about. My goal is to create 26 of these boxes... each with it's own fairy and background story. Here's what I've got so far:

This last one is my favourite... the little pixie is actually my grannie when she was a wee lass Smiley

WOW! Those are fantastic! They all are so unique with different "personalities". Do you know all of the people? Where'd you find those images?
Nice work!!

I think they are fabulous. Smiley  Especially the pink and orange one, and the dark garden, and the pixie one.  Beautiful.

I wish I had enough old photos of people I know to use, sadly, I don't have enough kicking around. Until recently, most of the images I've used are ones that people have posted on their sites or in groups specifically for artists to use in their art and collage work. Now, I've started buying old photos to use in my work... it doesn't cost very much to buy a batch of old photos no one wants and you come across some pretty interesting characters that way.

These are absolutely fantastic!

I love that you're going to make 26 of them, it's like a whole alphabet set.

My favorite is the man with the acron hat.

I am a huge fan of shadowboxes too!  (do you think there is a shadowbox themed swap out there? hm...)

The acorn-hat gent and "finders keepers" are definitely my favorite.  What are those furry things in there?  Rabbit's feet?  Loved the wishbone and sea-shells, those are some of my favorite natural items to use too.

Yep, those are rabbits feet. All of the items in that particular box are lucky charms. There's a four leaf clover, rabbits feet, a horse shoe, a found penny, a tiny emerald, high John root.

My high school art teacher's medium of choice was a lot of mixed media. These are wonderfully professional looking. I like the idea of 26, but what made you want to do 26 vs any other number? Great job Smiley

These are so whimsical and wonderful! I love that each one is completely different and I adore all the little touches you added into each display. I love them all but I think Fairie Dust and the Dark one are my favourites. Smiley

This is beyond awesome. You are talented! My dad is the hardest person to craft for, and this is SUCH an inspiration for him.  He spent 1+ yr scanning and compiling family photos since the 1800s.  (generations of photo bugs in the fam)Thank you so much for posting this!  His b'day present is found!

These are all utterly gorgeous and inspirational.  I love the guy with the horseshoe & the pair of 9s.  I have a nice pic of my nanny when she was a baby that I love copying and using in artybits, so nice to be able to.  I think I'll take a look in photo albums from my childhood & see what I can find.

I'm so glad to hear that some of you are inspired by these... I think that's the highest compliment ever. Hmmm, I just might have to do some extra digging for old photos of family members and make some up as xmas prezzies...

So lovely. I saw these the day you posted them and I keep thinking about them. My definition of good art is something that stirs your emotions and stays with you. This fits.

Maybe someday I'll try something like this.
