Oooo, a sheet of slices!  Very nice looking one too.

I love the way that logs on the edge of a cane slice that haven't been wrapped with another color create such cool secondary patterns when the slices are joined.  In this case the secondary pattern (the "grid") almost becomes the main element in your sheet!

Thanks y'all!!!

Diane--can ya tell, I like puzzles?  Wink

Ok, this is the energizer bunny cane, going and going and going

I used oval cookie cutter (check the cake aisle or cake deco stores for hard to find cutters like this huge oval one) To kind of round off your edges, place a sheet of plastic wrap on your clay sheet before using cutters. I used small plunger cutter for stick holes.  I stapled index cards and folded as shown for the curve needed while baking.

Cannot locate my wooden sticks right now, so borrowed a store bought one from other barrette to photo.

back view, it is textured a little.....
Can a gal have too many pretty scrunchy (or rubber band) hiders??

Wow! Such gorgeous work, and I love seeing all of the examples of what can be made with them! It really makes me want to dig out some clay and give it a go (but I'm still a little bit chicken). I'll have to set up a dedicated space for "clay play" and then go to town!

I've got this bookmarked (as well as Diane B.'s site) so when I have the time (and the courage), I can give it a whirl...

cool craftADDchick!
Don't be scared!  A good place to start is with jelly roll canes.  If you reduce and stack like these canes a cool result will be found too!

More Homework:

Stencil I used to press over clay slices.  Slice flush off stencil after pressing heart.  Makes them bow out as you press stencil down.  This is a good place/time to use your wayward cut slices for the entire slice is not used to press down upon.  Place your reject slices on excess clay thickest setting pasta machine sheet.  You can line up your stencil cut out holes perfectly bypassing the parts missing, unwanted, or ruined.  Notice I used solid color for backs utilizing every slice I make from cane for fronts only.    I use the stencils over and over for fronts and backs. I bent "bar bell" shape in wires.  Sandwhich in between slices.  What cool reject cane slices now!!
