When I stamp, I do the rub on a piece of scratch paper method. When I let my kids use my stamps they wind up with a LOT more ink on them, so I throw them in my collander & give 'em a rinse at the kitchen sink, sometimes I add a little dish soap & swish. If you don't soak them you don't need to worry about the wood drying out or glues relesing the rubber from the wood bases. My mom has a really neat set of architectual stamps (you might have seen these sets in museum gift shops). As nice as they are, they are tiny with really deep grooves that really hold ink- they have to be washed every time just because of their shapes.

Famous, ha! I wish! But that little comment earned you another stamp since you say such nice things to me and I feel bad I haven't been able to send out your stamps yet. Oh, and I sprained my knee at work last night so I'm stuck inside for the next few days so what else is there to do but carve? But never fear! I will send my boyfriend to the PO tomorrow since I can't make it now.

That's true, those really intricate stamps do need more cleaning!  Most carved stamps aren't at that level of detail though.  With them I'd err on the side of dirtier/stained stamps in the interest of preserving their life span (i'm the same way with the newer clear/acrylic stamps which are cheaper but just don't hold up the same way rubber does!)

i've never done much to clean the ink off my stamps. i use the speedball ink and roller so it's pretty thick and sticky.  i just quickly rinse them under warm water and let the air dry.  that turtle stamp is great!

Emails or PM's? You can set in your profile to recieve email when you get a PM. I don't, I just check in everyday- keeps my email box a little less cluttered.

Love all the stamps you made (I'm not a participant, just an admirer  Grin)
Is there a tutorial somewhere about making these stamps?
Thx!

I received my first stamp today, from Indigo_roses!  I love it!

And of course I had to sit right down and put it to good use!
