today I completed my Hugs and Kisses quilt.

Its been made for a lovely lady I met online, and whose courage and good humour have inspired hundreds of others.  She is dying of cancer and this quilt is a symbol of love not just for her, but also for her young son to remember his mummy with.

The fabric was sent to me by other online friends around the UK and beyond, each carefully selected to suit our friend. Can you tell that she loves purple?   Its flannel backed for extra snuggle.

Im really pleased with it, and what it represents - that good friends need never meet in the flesh, and yet can have a fantastic connection with eachother.
I got the pattern from here, although I did not follow her method.  http://www.quiltpox.com/Patterns/Hugs/

I hope you like it, and more importantly, I hope she likes it!

Oh wow.  The quilt is gorgeous and the story behind it is so touching.  I actually teared up thinking about the lady's young son and all the generous people from around the world sending you fabric to make it.  There's a lot of love sewn into that quilt!!!  That's an amazing thing you've done!

"Yeah we don't take orders well.  Unless they're to get on the dance flo'.  Or raise the roof.  Or make some NOIZE...with a Z!"

That's one of the things I love about this quilt. I'm putting it near the top of my long to-do list. I have the perfect fabric for it.

Touching story, too. You're a good friend.

This is a great story and so beautiful.  I think this pattern could make some really lovely scrap quilts too.  Thanks for sharing!

I'm looking to send my Step-Sister's Choice quilt to a new home.  If you're interested in swapping for fabric/scrapbooking supplies, send me a PM.
