back in may, i had this REALLY extensive list of crafty gifts to get started on.

i SO didn't ever get around to any of it. in fact, i never even learned some of the skills neccessary. hah! wow-zers. so i have from now until...??...a few days before christmas to crochet efficiently. (only one gift, though, and it's a hat, i should be okay, although it's a slouchy hat...oy vey)

i'm doing a portrait of my mom, i'm less of a skilled portrait painter and more of an illistrator/water color artist but..i think it will come out well. it will be stylized anyway.

my sister (hopefully..keeping those fingers crossed) will be getting the slouchy hat, in navy blue.

my bf ..?!?!...oh man, i am sooo stumped. i'm completely broke. i can't give him a piece of artwork because we live together, and he'd see me working on it, and pfft... we bought this goldfish and named him edgar, and we were thinking of a short story called "edgar the problem fish" so what i may do is put together an illistration and get a blank handbound book and entitle it "edgar the problem fish & other short stories by cat miller and stuart mudd" (our random ass pen names...haha) it's not tooooooo lame, right?

everyone else is getting cookies damnit. and i'm making some really kickass cards. i'll be posting (for the first time) after i've (maybe) completed all my lovely(?) handmade wares.

if not, i am ACE at making and giving hugs. so maybe that's what everyone will be getting. (i kid...)

i love the idea of a well thought out sentimental gift. seems right. i may not be giving everyone heaps of stuff, but c'mon cookies and handmade awesomeness? hello. tis the freakin season.

any thoughts on my endeavors would be sweet. tweeks, suggestions, improvements?

malisha - Thank you that is an amazing idea. He is really good a bowling and we kind of have a ongoing joke about it because I try really hard to beat him everytime because he was captain of the bowling team in highschool. haha something not many are proud of but he tries to show off. I might make him a paper mache' bowling ball but put those little collectors football helmets he loves in it..... But I've never really done paper mache  Undecided  so this could end badly lol.

As for help on your problem.... if your "uncle" like to travel why not make him a traveling to go kit. Make something fun to put it in and then add stationary and stuff in it for him to send you and your family letters on his trips? Or pictures of everyone he could take with him?

or well my pap was the owner or well manager or something for the bread company holsum and they had that little old baker guy as there mascot? Does his company have one of those? One year we ordered a huge sign of it with my paps name on it and he hung it in his garage and was very proud of it. Maybe you could make him a painting for something to keep in his office? Not really useful like you wanted but he might like it.

Hi! I have to make stuff for my boyfriend too, and our anniversary is on Dec.13th, so it's gift crunch time! I came across alot of ideas and I can't use them all so here are some for you!
-a card deck book:punch a hole in the corner of each card. Glue paper over the card, paint it white then write a reason you love him or such on each card
-his favorite snacks in a crate that has a little sign titled "Bob's Emergency Supplies", except his name would replace Bob.
-Personalized pillow case, very cheap and fun
-A fleece hat? You can go to the Thrift shop, get an old fleece top and use it to make the hat, and maybe even mittens!
-Coupons, sweet illustrated coupons for hugs, kisses, x rated stuff, or vouchers that entitle him to getting out of filling the dishwasher, mopping, doing laundry.
-Sewn neckwarmer or scarf. Faster than crocheting, but equally warm and awesome
-Microwavable rice bag for his neck or a square one for all occasions! Great for cold weather and for aches and pains. Make yourself one too!
-I bought a felt letter K and S for my friends Kelly and Steve, a super funny couple I'm friends with. I got them for a buck each at Joann Fabric and sewed beads and buttons on. They can be pinned on the wall or hung on the tree.

Hope this helps! Good luck!  Grin

cassettetape-

thanks for the ideas, i liked them.  Grin in fact, i'm keeping one or two of them in mind for a little extra to add to my book idea. we've been dating for over five years, which is great because it's like i can get away with not getting him that much haha!

definitely a tasty snack haha. i'd like to do the pillowcase but i literally have no money. hah it's sad. we're broke college kids. last year he made me some wooden bangles and i love love love them, i think i will ask for more this year...

cassettetape  - I really liked that card idea as well. I might have to steal that one. and might find a way to keep a card theme on i and just write on the back.

or do it for someone else rather than a boyfriend like a family member
ahh Idk. I rememberd not only does my boyfriend obsess over sports and wrestling he's really good at poker. ahh I know all his hobbies just dont know what to do with them.
oh well I'll figure out what to do with him he shouldn't be to hard

although I am still having trouble with my grandma... of which I live with so its kinda hard yet I can find ways to get around making things for her.
I just dont know what to make someone who can make literally everything to begin with.  Undecided she likes to make life complicated.

I have a group of about ten friends that are all pretty close... recently this year anywho (I'm in high school big groups of girls can only get so close haha) anywho! I am super broke and not too crafty but I have lots of pictures I wanted to do something with... and I can bake. So yes I'm not puttin this so eloquently but basically I need something relatively cheap that I can make for my friends... it's okay if they are all the same....

and then I have like 6 friends that are random but still go to the same school... something different for them?

Help would be lovely.

oh and they are all 16-17 year old... pretty much all girly

shaoono:
it's not that hard! just make sure that:
1.- you put the plastic before you start gluing the paper because if not, you'll never be able to take the paper out of the ball
2.- put between 6-7 coats of paper before finishing... it will make it stronger

ilovepineapple:
you can buy used clocks and making picture clocks.... or printing 12 photos of the best moments and paste them instead of numbers.. that ends up being a great gift

I live in mexico, I can send loads of mexican stuff ...I'd swap for crafting supplies and scrapbooking supplies (PM if interested)

in high school i got dollar store frames, silver spray paint, and cut words and phrases out of magazines and decoupaged them on. it was a big hit.
