Socks.. my first pair

Having had a go at knitting gloves in the round I thought I might as well try socks. I knitted them in different shades of the wool because I get bored easily when knitting two or more identical things (still haven’t gotten round to the second glove two years later). Plus I figured I could give them to someone I know who never wears a matching pair of socks. They took just over five hours each.

First off: Love the socks. Second, I never wear a matching pair of socks either... Hehe. It's SO fun to take my shoes off and have everyone go 'Umm.. your socks don't match' and I can go 'oh, they haven't since senior year of high school'... xD Doesn't help that I wear socks with crazy patterns/colors... it's always BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that they don't match. xD I just tell people 'they're both socks, aren't they?"

Anyway, nice socks... I need to learn to knit!

Wow, those look a lot better than my first pair of socks did!  I have to warn you though, they can be addicting.  I prefer my socks to be fraternal.  Some people like to have the stripes match up exactly when they use self-striping yarn, but I actually like them a little different.  Brothers, but not identical.  Yours are kind of like that too.  Great job!

I like wearing different colored socks too.  When people point out the colors don't match, I like to point out that the colors do not clash.

oh- and your sock habit- at least you wear two socks. often times, I'm so (easily) distracted, that I end up only putting on one sock before walking out the door. It's really an awkward feeling.

They were from a Patons Learn to Knit book that I never thought I’d use but came in useful for a sock pattern. I shortened the length of them a bit because I didn’t have enough wool to make them as long as the pattern described.
