Well it's friday here -

This week (on my new wheel, yummy) I spun these - each between 90-100yards, merino with a little bit of bamboo and sparkle.

Still need to set the twist but they're so gorgeous, and still have two more bags of roving to spin up tomorrow Smiley

Happy friday everyone!!

Things are soo very chaotic here.. with the packing and painting.. painting and packing..  I actually packed up all my fiber stash into boxes.. trying to get me to pack and paint more, and spin less...  but it just made me really cranky..  so luckily I got some fiber in the mail, and I'm allowing myself 30 min to an hour each night to decompress at the wheel..  seems to be working.. I'm not *quite* as crabby..  I just can't wait until this is all over!!!!

sooooooooooooooooo. . that being said.. I have 2 to share this week.  All pics were taken before the twist was set..   both are spun from hobbledehoy batts

Devil in a blue dress, 89 yards
I spun this bulky.. thick and thin.. and then plied it with a red metallic thread.  It's mostly merino, with some bamboo, flax and pinches of local fleece.  It's SOOO soft and squooshy!!

Day at the Beach, 210 yards
210 yards
This yarn is thinner than I usually spin.. worsted weight probally.. but still slightly thick and thin for texture.  I love this yarn.. it reminds me of the days I spent at the beach.. the blue water with the stretches of sand..  dotted with colors of towels and swimsuits..  and white clouds in the sky..  It's super soft and also squooshy..  it's mostly merino, with hints of bamboo, sparkle and local fleece

YAY.. can't wait to see what everyone else did this week!

Here is the last yarn for the next weeks, because I've started spinning laceweight for a project (it's far from laceweight, but thinner than everything I've spun before) and I'm sure it will take me weeks to finish it.

It's called "Strawberry Fields" and is spun from roving dyed with kool-aid.

5% Cria alpaca, hand dyed green
4.6 oz total weight, 220 yards total length

Blue Raspberry
100% Blended Merino (dark pink, purple, and purple-blue)
Some angelina for sparkle
3 oz total weight, 200 yards

Fiber Friday! Yipee!

I have been so smoking busy lately (working 30 days in a row), but have still been able to keep up with my goal of spinning one skein per week. I actually have two today...both corespun. The photos were taken before the twist was set.

This is another skein that goes with the two I posted last week. I'm shocked at how far you can stretch fiber when you are corespinning. It's corridale, soy silk, and tencel.

Doin' the Trash - scrap batts carded by me and corespun - has just about everything in it.

Of course you can play, 615bride!  Welcome and lovely work!!

I have a few to post...sorry about the overdose of pink.  I don't know what's gotten into me lately... Grin

Taffy Pull  Corespun from handcarded rolags...handpainte d merino, soysilk, and sparkle.  65 yd., 3.3 oz.

Skeins spun for the Handspun/Handcrafts Swap!  My partner has received, so I think it's safe to post.
Ice Nine - Spun from hobbledehoy batts of merino, mohair, and sparkle.
Grotto -  Superwash merino and alpaca

Vamp - Humane handspun!  Fiber from a Shetland/Merino cross sheep named Riley, handpainted with acid dyes, with a little streak of firestar throughout.

And I can't resist...

My husband politely asking a bison for some of the downy undercoat it was shedding.  We were trapped behind/alongside a bison herd for 2 1/2 hours in Yellowstone last Saturday!   Cheesy
