Candyland journal

I made this for the bargain hunter 5 swap, since my partner mentioned wanting a journal.  It's made from half a candyland gameboard, some old wrapping paper, pages out of one and a half compositon books (you know, the black & white mottled cover ones), a bit of scrap linen, a ribbon bookmark, multicolored crochet cotton to sew in the binding (which I don't think is in any of the pictures), and mod podge:

And... there is one slight flaw here, which is to say that I checked carefully before gluing, and still managed to put the pages in upside down. 


Who says you can't have the margin at the bottom, anyway?

How cute! I may have to try that...we have a TON of old boardgames (My sister wanted to tile her floor with them,but we never got to  it). That's a great idea, though!

I love it!  Candy Land was my favorite game growing up.  When they changed/updated the board I was so sad.  I buy any of the older ones like that I see.  Now I have an idea of what to do with one. Thanks!

There are lots of things you can do with old game boards if you don't want to stick them in the yard sale/thrift store pile.  book covers, coasters, shelves... basically anything that you can do with heavy cardboard.  The only trick is cutting them evenly.

I saw this girl on tv..cant remember what show..
but she wrote in her journal backwards..or upsidedown..or something.
I thought it was cool..but I never tried it.
Anyway..good job.
