so I taught myself to knit after always wishing I knew how... basically I can cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. i'm looking to extend my range of abilities after i'm done with my current project (you guessed it... another scarf) but for now i'm satisfied with this, my first knitting project ever!! it's not perfect but i love it anyways!
Here it is:

I used random alternating knit and purl rows, after I accidentally did the wrong one and messed up my stockinette... but i like it better this way  Smiley

Close-up of the fringe (this is the bad end... oops!!)

and of course, it's hot pink (my favorite color!!) and i hope to use it a lot in the winter!  Smiley

>>update<<
i just finished my second knitting project (another scarf) and i am even more proud of this one than the first! it's supremely FIERCE!! it took me about a week and a half, and i love it tons! here it is, in all its stripey glory...

thanks for your compliments and encouragement! hopefully i can move up from scarves soon!  Smiley

That's so good for your first project! I like how you've knitted the purls and knits Smiley

Oh my goodness.  This is infinitely better than my first ever knitting adventure was (of course, also a scarf).
You are destined for knitting greatness.  Keep at it.   Smiley

That is really great for a first project!  My first one (also a scarf) I affectionately call 'the mat' because that's what it looks like...  If you can knit and purl you can pretty much do any kind of knit you want - you'll be amazed at how those two stitches in different patterns can make so much different looking stuff! Great job!! My first project (scarf) was so ugly and holey. Yours is fab!! I love the alternating rows too.

You did great for your first knitting project... I'm kind of jealous, actually.

Welcome to the dark side... Muahahaha!

cuteness! i, too, love the random gartery bits. also, since you learned both K and P in one go, you will probably never hate to purl. which is good.

you're not dying. you just can't think of anything good to do.
