Anyone be interested in this? I am a mean powermetal fan. Nothing gets my blood pumping like bands such as helloween, gamma ray, angra, blind guardian, dragonforce etc but I'm really into most kinds of metal and love good thrash/punk bands such as fuck on the beach, send more paramedics, sex positions, refused etc. I'm sure there has to be plenty more of you out there.

I've pretty much completed my second swap (just waiting for package to arrive) and was thinking if there are enough people interested I could try my hand at organising. Even if I don't have enough time to participate I would still love to see a gallery for this.

So how 'bout it? Are you a misanthropic soul who feels the impulse to spit in the general direction of HMV & Sanity (CD chain stores here in Australia, not sure what the equivilent is in other countries but you get the idea)? Well then raise your fist to the sky and scream "Odin, deliver me black crafts dripping in ...METAL!"

No way I'd be in.  Man the possibilities are so open.  My boyfriend is in a punk band so I'm sure he'd help me out with it as well.

I guess there aren't a lot of craftsters into metal. Sad

I'd certainly be tempted by a metal swap! Totally into old school stuff like Anthrax, Old Metallica (before the Black Album, thank you, the new stuff? blecch), Megadeth, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, is my age showing here?  Wink  But I like newer stuff too like Nile, Blind Guardian, Dragonforce...

if my tastes qualified, i'd be in. i'm really not sure though. one close high school friend was all about labelling every band into genres, another said it didn't matter, if you liked it it was good music. so i'm currently wikipediaing my favourite music.

it says dropkick murphys are Oi!, which is celtic punk. on the other hand, i got my shirt of them from hot topic, so maybe that's too mainstream?

manson is by far my most favourite and beloved music EVER. wikipedia says under the genre catagory "disputed", so that's no help whatsoever. and again, hot topic, so too mainstream? if we classify metal/punk as band shirts i am not allowed to wear to work (daycare), he definately qualifies.

dry kill logic is nu metal, metalcore, and rap metal. nekromantix and horrorpops are pop punk and psychobilly. dillinger escape plan is metalcore and mathcore. the transplants are rapcore/punk. murderdolls is horror punk and glam metal. and who the hell doesn't like mudvayne, slipknot and s.o.a.d?

so, this may sound bitchy, but i'm not trying to be, i genuinely want to know. is my music taste good enough for this? do i qualify?

life is no cabaret- we don't care what you say, we're inviting you anyway, you mf'ers, you'll sing someday!

Haha don't stress sweetie. If you are into metal/punk you qualify of course. I actually really love dropkick murphys, dillinger escape plan and horroorpops myself. When people join I will get them to list some of their favorite bands/genres etc and I'll pair up people accordingly. And hey, don't sweat it, I'm not a TOTAL music snob, I know you're not being bitchy.

That said I still so want a power metal fiend to join haha.

(I love being close to Boston, too, they get a lot of airplay up here!)

This is going to make me sound like a total f***ing nerd aannndd a total f***ing bitch aannndd make me sound like a music snob right after I said I wasn't one but Panteras first album was actually called Magic Metal. *blush*

I really like pantera. Don't hurt me and/or be offended. If it makes you feel any better I wasn't even alive before Powermetal was released...that is how much of a loser I am. Somehow I managed to fail maths in school but my brain chooses to retain this (pretty much) useless knowledge. *sigh*

Ooo I just found a discography. God bless wikipedia. *down on knees* "All hail wikipedia."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantera_discography

By the look of the discography that style wasn't really working in their favour anyway because cowboys from hell was the first one to go platinum. Lame.

Ohh and I just have to add that I am getting really excited about this swap now that at least a few people are showing interest. Come on craftsters, if you're a fellow music nerd and listen to songs about dragons and knights you won't be judged in here!

Yes, yes! You are right! Magic metal.
I think Power Metal was the first album that Phil was on.

I'm impressed.

Haha I'm glad that is "impressive" and not utterely utterly lame.

I'm listening to "Powermetal" right now because I just had to hear "Proud to be loud". Why did they ever stop writing music like this?

I might be interested in this - for me and my DH. His favorite band is Turbonegro.  He probably likes metal and me more punk... it's a really good match!

I'm not so much into metal, but I do love me some crazy drumming action. (like in lightning bolt, if anyone knows who the F*k I'm talking about). I also am totally into old-school punk rock, especially the likes of Crass, the Queers, Fugazi, dead kennedys, and riot grrl kathleen hanna-et. all.

what were your ideas for the swap, item-wise, and do you have a timeline worked out?

I remember seeing pantera when I was young, and them being like a glam band (lol). Same thing with Alice in chains. The hair was as big as the ego. How things can change Cheesy.

What would we craft for this swap? I mean, I agree, I love metal, thrash, death metal goth metal and punk, but what could you actually craft from them? I need some ideas Smiley

I'm down! Metal and Punk are two of my favourite genres. Is anyone into ATC's and Altered Altoid Tins?

Metal/Punk bands I dig:

AFI
Avenged Sevenfold
Dead Kenendys
The Donnas
Flogging Molly
Grim Reaper
Guns N Roses
HorrorPops
Marilyn Manson
Nightwish
The Runaways
X-Ray Spex

and more...

I can think of all kinds of stuff:

boxes or bags with fav band logos on it
purses shaped like guitars
recreate clothes worn on stage by bands...
CD holders...
