Where do the big tiles join on to each other? Or is it a giant tile with a hole in the centre for the mirror to pop into? It must be difficult to move them around while you're making them in any case.

They're kind of randomly sized. If you look closely at the last picture of the flounder, then you might be able to see that his face is a single tile. Yes, it is difficult to move around all that tile! It's like putting a puzzle together each time I move it. 

How many pieces is it?  I'm thinking you must have a rather large kiln.  I'll try to hold back the kiln envy:)

I don't want to think about how many pieces it is - it is a lot! I've gotten a little better at it, so I don't have to make the chunks as small as this one had, but it still ends up being a lot. This is my kiln.   It's pretty cool. I also have a little one, that I use for glaze tests, but it's starting to crap out on me and I need to figure out why.

I've been working on this bathroom for 6 years. lol. If you look at my other projects, you'll understand where all my time has gone. (My son was also born somewhere in there!)  I'm almost done with the bathroom, finally. I don't remember how long the mirror took - it was several months to a year. But a lot of that was simply trying to figure out what the heck I was doing. I can crank out the murals pretty quickly now, once I have the design worked out.
