Just joined the community and I wanted to share a pic of one of my favorite things I have baked.  This was my first attempt at a Buche de Noel (Yule Log).  I got the basic cake and filling from a Martha Stewart Recipe and I used a ganache icing with cracked melted bittersweet chocolate for bark.  There is powdered sugar snow and the best part was the merengue mushrooms that I made.  They were so simple and very tasty, just a basic merengue with cocoa powder, the tops and stems were made separately and glued together with melted chocolate.   The Hershey kiss mice were bought from a local sweets shop.

Good job! I have always wanted to make a Buche de Noel but haven't attempted it yet. Good job on the mice, I made dozens for Christmas last year, I never thought I could sell them LOL!

Oh yeah.... I think my mom paid $2.50 per mouse!  She bought a whole bunch of them for the holidays and they turned out to be perfect for the Buche!
