I'm making a set of these for my grandma! I'm going to paint them, but I don't know what as...a doublebladed lightsaber would be cool, but my nana may not get it. Maybe those will be for me.

Those are too much fun.  I know what I'm going to be getting at the hardware store the next time I go!

When in doubt, use more glue!

Look Ma, I'm on Ravelry!

I'm so doing this. I have a few dowels that I have in my craft room and have never found what to use them for. This is perfect! And its also a great way to save money, since I have all the supplies to do it already!! yay!

I love personal swaps, I currently need art (paintings or something to hang on a wall) but I'd be up for anything.

Man, I've been looking for a way to do this for a while now. Knitting needles are TOO FRICKING EXPENSIVE where I am. Here are mine:

I haven't knitted on them yet, so I don't know how they'll hold up, but I sure do love looking at them!

another way these needles could be interesting is in home decor.
Make your own set, paint them up as dainty as you want, and display them somewhere.
I have a set of dpns I'm working on (my sandpaper was made for Ball jointed dolls, so I need a heftier grain) but another pair I whipped up ended up being too quirky for me, so now they sit on my desk next to my copics.

The superfluous is very necessary.

Thanks for posting this!  My favorite knitting needles are bamboo so I am going try making my own wooden ones.
