This was my first knitted project. I never did practice swatches/squares. I just dived into making fun hats. And I loved it! This pattern was taken from a book called Hip Knit Hats, I used different colors and needle gauges though than what it called for. The book has a lot of different hats for your specific head shape. And no baby hats. I get soo tired of getting knitting books that seem cool, but then have a huge chunk set aside for kids.

This is cute too! I saw your other hat too. I know what you mean about knitting books seeming cool...and then turning out to not be as cool as you thought. It's really annoying and far too common Wink

I love the Hip Knit Hats book.  For Christmas last year, I made each of my family and friends that I get gifts for a different hat from the book.  I have noticed that there are some errors in the book and did find this list of corrections:


On whole, I found most of the patterns (even the ones marked for more experienced knitters) to be easy and quick knits and I am far from an expert knitter.
