Hat for my two years old - with brim tutorial

I've tried to make hats before but it ended horribly.
This is the first one I'm not ashamed of. I used a modified version of McCall's M4478, hat A.

So cute! What do you think made this a better hat-making experience for you? Did you try some new techniques, get lucky...? Making hats seems a bit daunting to me. Any words of encouragement now that you've made such a lovely hat?

jeanderbyNY: I tried to sketch instructions for the brim but I don't know if it's clear. English isn't my main language either so sorry if my sewing vocabulary is not accurate.

i attempted a sun hat for my baby, but it was made into a bonnet, bc i had no clue to do the brim. but now i'll try your way out and get back to you.
