Hey you talented, talented people!

Been lurking on here for weeks and finally decided to get your opinion on one of my creations. I am Piscean and love anything marine themed so wanted to design a necklace fit for a mermaid! The beads are either pearls or marine coloured, woven around a crocheted sterling silver wire.

Be brutal please - I really wanna learn!

OK totally honest and brutal...
It's lovely. The only thing is if it's for a mermaid maybe add some seashells. Or if you want to be more realistic some sea trash...
But I love it the way it is.

ha! you're asking craftsters to be brutal and honest? with something that's beautiful? not going to happen. we're a painfully nice bunch!

i agree, it's lovely. the silver wire is just messy enough to look kinda like seaweed, but the shinyness adds some class. the colors are gorgeous together. i'd love to see what it looks like on a mermaid...or yourself, i just want to see where it hangs on the neck.

overall, great work. welcome out of lurkdom.

mary.

I am also a pisces....therefore I understand the oceanic ideas.  I can only think of one other thing I might do and that would be to put some seed bead kinda like fringy things here and there....specially if you add shells or sea trash.  Sea Glass is an awesome additive also.  I have a very long seed beaded and one strand of 6.0 beads that are all sea-ish.....has a frog polymer clay bead that is bout 1/2 inch square. I will have to take a pic and put somewhere folks can see.....I got a little over exhuberant, is bout 36 inches long hangs down a bit, but can be tied which helps on occasion.  I think you do beautiful work, I am not up for the crochet thing,,,, you are mucho braver than I have gotten to yet.

Thank you all so much.

Sactownsue/Hippiemage, I know what you mean.  I actually have various seahorses, shells etc I tried. Difficulty is because I used sterling wire, they all looked kinda cheap and kinda dragged it down. I might fiddle around some more and get back to you!

Thanks Mary. I'm glad you liked the colours!

hrm.....brain is working.......what color/or metal were the charms?  If there was a way you could "distress" them so they looked antique, or brought up from the deep?Huh?  Or perhaps half wrap them in either seed beads or a bit of wire?Huh   I still say it is gorgeous.  I think I will have to try that type of work.  I am still fighting with my multiple strand thingies trying to cram them in cone ends. GRRRR  grumble growl growl.  So many beads so little time.
